Hello Bible Quiz Fans,
Yesterday afternoon, the Southeast Bible Quiz Association held the monthly quiz meet for September 2018. The event took place at the Temple Baptist Academy campus in Powell, TN. It turned out to be a very exciting event. The field of teams included a team from Grace Christian Academy, Temple Baptist and two teams from Ridgeview Baptist in Walland, TN. Lakeview Baptist from Rhea County was also scheduled to compete but was not able to compete due to sickness. Temple Baptist started the quiz meet with only two quizzers so we made a slight rule change. The quizzers were allowed to get 6 correct answers to quiz out and 6 errors to error out.
This month, included a few lopsided quiz matches and a few really tight quiz matches that came down to the last question. In the first quiz round, Grace Christian got off to a quick start against Temple Baptist with strong quizzing by Sean Grace and Scott Firebaugh. At the midway point, Grace Christian was leading 140 to 60. However, Kierstin Balka took off at that point and with additional points from Easton Jones, Johnny Hancock and Luke Thompson Temple was able to get the team bonus and keep things close. But in the end, Grace Christian was able to pull through with a 210 to 190 point victory. In the same round Ridgeview 1 faced Ridgeview 2 in a battle for Ridgeview Baptist bragging rights. This quiz match was close as it was tied at 60 points after the first six questions. But Ridgeview 2 then got the next four questions in a row to race out to a 140 to 60 lead. Ridgeview 1 would not go away and was able to tie the quiz match on question 13 when they got a 20 point team bonus. The quiz match then became a back and forth slugfest which would be decided on the final question. On question 20 Blake Brewster won the initial jump but gave an incorrect answer. The rebound was answered by Alexis who secured a 20 point team bonus and the victory for Ridgeview 2. In the final round, Ridgeview 1 faced Temple Baptist in a close quiz match that was tied at the midway point. At that point, Temple raced ahead to a 190 to 120 lead on question 15 as Kierstin quizzed out with 6 correct and no errors for a 10 point bonus. Ridgeview 1 hung in there and eventually tied the score on question 19. On the final question of the quiz match, Blake Brewster won the jump and gave a correct answer to secure the win for both the quiz match and the quiz meet as Ridgeview 1 was awarded the Team of the Month Trophy.
There were seven different quizzers that quizzed out forward with six correct answers in a single quiz match and won a Quiz Out Achievement Ribbon. They are as follows:

3. Caleb Williams – Ridgeview 2
4. Benjamin Brewster – Ridgeview 2
5. Scott Firebaugh – Grace Christian Academy
6. Sean Grace – Grace Christian Academy
7. Kierstin Balka – Temple Baptist
The Quizzer of the Month award was hotly contested during the early rounds but as the day moved on one quizzer rose ahead of the others and finished with 16 correct and 0 errors. That was Kierstin Balka from Temple Baptist and she was awarded the Quizzer of the month medal.
I am attaching the team results and individual results for your review. It is very encouraging to see the time that these quizzers and their parents have invested in God’s Word, and it is exciting to think about the way God will use it in their lives in the years to come.
