Quiz #5 for Dr. Knapp, #17 overall Virginia vs Wisconsin vs Florida At this point there are 10 teams left, and if Virginia, and also Georgia in Douglas' room loses, we'll be down to 2 rooms. Florida is coming off their first middle, and all teams are coming off the lunch/chapel break. Generally teams off a lunch break perform poorly and error a lot, I guess cause of the larger-than-average break, so lets see what happens. Q1: First points for the afternoon rounds go to WI. Q2: FL knocks down the initial for 20. Q3: Error by WI, and VA scores on the tossup. All tied after 3. Q4: Another correct for FL. Q5: Too soon of a jump for FL on the quote and WI gets the rebound. Score after 5: VA 20 WI 40 FL 40 Q6: Error for both WI and VA, FL gets the free and the lead. On the redo, WI gets their 3rd error and FL gets the tossup and extends the lead to 30. Q7: WI gets 20 after a judge's discussion. Knapp: "Clapping is allowed." Q8-9: Two in a row for FL and they're up 50 on WI. Q10: VA gets a quote Score after 10: VA 40, WI 60, FL 110. Only WI is in the error zone. Q11: Error for WI to knock them down to within 10 of VA. FL gets the rebound. Q12: 2nd error for VA, 5th for WI, and FL gets the free. On the redo, VA gets their third error, WI their sixth, to drop them to 30 behind VA. FL gets another free, but it's challenged by WI and overruled. This is typical for Knapp to generally dismiss borderline challenges, and especially on a free question against a team that has already gotten the high essentially, Knapp is absolutely correct. More fun on Q12, as FL and VA both error. VA goes down ten cause of their errors. WI gets the free and we have a timeout because this question must go on forever. As of now, FL has 2 errors, WI with 6 and VA with 4. The key here, like I said before, is managing your post-lunch errors. It only takes a quiz to shake it, so you just have to make sure you don't get your loss then. After the timeout, FL finally gets Q12. Q13: Error on WI to tie them with VA, FL with the rebound. Q14: WI gets the initial to pull ahead 20 on VA. Q15: Error on VA and they're 30 back on WI. WI gets the rebound, so make it 50 back. Score after 15: VA 20, WI 70, FL 190 Q16: WI errors for the 8th time, and VA gets a much-needed tossup to bring them within 20. Q17: WI jumps on a quote and nails it. Q18: WI looks to ice it, but the judges discuss and rule it incorrect. WI attempts a challenge but is way off. VA gets the tossup and are within 10. Q19: Again, WI attempts to ice it with a quote and gets it done. VA is going home. Final Score: VA 80, WI 90, FL 190. Wisconsin had 9 errors but survived, so mission accomplished for them. They just had to survive and they did. FL looked great, but I'm a homer, so yeah. Jesse
