Quiz 22 of the day. Number 7? with Knapp Wisconsin vs New York vs Colorado Um, see what I'm saying about getting the high win? If WI had gotten it last round, they would have the go through two of the four best teams in the tourney (although, they may have faced the other two, but it's unlikely) Also, UGH, because the last quiz I did was a corrupted file and unretrievable. Sorry, if you want to know what happened, Pennsylvania was down in the error zone early and was trailing by 30 with four questions left, and they go all clutch after a pivotal timeout to survive, and then take the high! (from WI, who sat for the last like 10 questions as they had 130 after 9 I believe) Q1-Q3: I really wasn't paying attention ;) Whatever, we're all tied at 20. CO has one error. There was an error on the scorekeeper as well if you really need to know. Q4: 1st error for NY, 1st error on WI, CO with the free. CO then correct the scorekeeper who gives them 20 points instead of 10. Yay for honesty I guess. NY gets the redo. Q5: 2nd error for NY, 2nd error on WI, CO with the free. They only get 10 this time. CO then gets the redo. Score after 5: WI 20 NY 40 CO 60 Q6: CO misses a quote and WI gets the tossup. Q7: CO and NY both miss and slide into the error zone, WI gets the free. CO misses another quote to slide to 50 and NY gets the tossup to take the lead. Q8-10: Stuff happened, sorry I was distracted. Was busy trying to recover last quiz. Anyway, a team called a timeout and there were a lot of errors. Score after 10: WI 50, NY 120, CO 40. Q11: Error for NY, TMI for CO, and WI gets the free. Knapp: You should see the faces of the students with they give too much information. It's one of the joys of being a quizmaster. LOL. Timeout for New York to make a substitution. NY then gets the redo after the timeout. Q12: WI gets another 20 to pull within 50 of New York and ahead 50 of Colorado. Challenge is made but overruled. Some of these challenges are silly, like, "You said Matthew instead of Mark." Yeah, but the quizzer still got it right. They should through it out because why? Q13: CO gets an important 20. Q14: A miss for NY and CO gets the tossup. WI challenges to say that CO got up too quick on the tossup, but Knapp overrules it, as he should. How can challenge that? Do you have proof in the text? That's what I think everyone should say in response to a challenge. Is there proof in the text? If not, don't bother. I'm tired. Q15: CO and NY both error, but the question is thrown out cause it's a corrupt question, much like my file of last quiz. WI misses and challenges the miss, and it's still overruled. CO gains two quick fouls trying to beat NY up, and NY finally gets the tossup. CO has to be careful of fouls from now on, cause they're now tied with WI and it's getting close to the end. Score after 15: WI 70 NY 140, CO 70 Q16: CO misses and WI gets the tossup to pull ahead 30 on CO. Strangely, NY calls a timeout. Any reason why? 80 points left, just get one, which may just fall in your lap anyway. Having said that, it could make the difference between a bye or not. Q17: Another miss for CO and WI gets the tossup again. CO has to get 60 points out of 60 at this point. Q18: CO jumps again but misses again to clinch the loss. They were getting open looks but couldn't knock down shots, meaning, they were jumping first and at the right time, but weren't just getting them right. CO challenges the question's wordage, and after a Judges Discussion, the challenge is overruled. And now, NY attempts a challenge. Is there a challenge cap? Knapp does accept NY's challenge and won't let CO rechallenge, saying, "The debate is later" Score check after 18: WI 110, NY 160, CO 40. Q19-20: Meh, doesn't matter, game's over. Score check WI 130, NY 160 CO 50. 10 errors for Colorado and they have got to cure that or they're going out. I really underestimated Wisconsin's resolve, and they looked good in the clutch. New York looks like the favorite, as always. Jesse
