Quiz 24 of the day. Number 8 with Knapp Wisconsin vs New York vs Kentucky Five teams left. Florida and Pennslyvania have the bye. All quizzes from here on out will be with Knapp. Kentucky, I believe, is the only team with a loss, so looks like we'll be having a lot of byes from here on out. The goal is to get to the second day with either 3 or 4 quizzes remaining, so we may see several semifinal preview rounds in here. Fun fact: I have been here, like I said, 6 of the last 7 years. I have never attended the Thursday quizzes. Q1: WI gets 20 off a NY error. Q2: 2nd error and this is a bad quiz to start having errors early. KY gets the tossup. Q3: Error on Kentucky, and NY gets the rebound to tie us up at 20. Q4: Error on a quote for NY puts them in the error zone after 4 questions, and WI gets the tossup. NY calls timeout. Fun fact: All four questions have resulted in four correct tossups. Q5: First error on WI, KY gets the timeout. The trend continues! Score after 5: WI 40, NY 20, KY 40 Q6: NY gets an initial to break the trend and tie us up at 40. Q7: Minus 10 off a NY error, and KY gets the tossup. The trend continues! Q8: 2nd error for KY, 5th error for NY knocks them down to 20, and WI gets the free. NY gets the redo. Fun fact: these BJU chairs are fairly uncomfortable after sitting in one with a laptop on your lap since 8AM this morning. In other news, WI fails at challenging. Q9: 2nd error for WI, KY gets the tossup. Q10: Another 20 for KY. Score after 10: WI 50, NY 40, KY 100 Q11: NY gets an initial to overtake WI. Q12: KY gets another 20. I don't know if the crowd is decisively for Kentucky or just if Kentucky fans are really loud. Q13: Error on KY to slide them into the error zone at about the right time. Same for WI, and NY gets the free. So all three teams are the error zone as New York calls timeout. KY can't rest quite yet, but they need to realize that NY and WI are both error-prone and let also prone to making a big run. So it may be safer to just sit. WI gets the redo. Q14: WI for 20 to leap above NY. Q15: But NY gets 20 to tie it up. Score after 15: WI 90 NY 90 KY 120. Q16: NY gets another and now maybe its time for KY to jump. Knapp explains the whole sit-down-and-then-I'll-tell-you-if-you're-right rule for the newcomers in the audience. Q17: A miss for both WI and NY and KY gets the free. Knapp takes a time out to tell us to stomp on our cell phones, or just turn them off. NY attempts a very long quote and runs out of time, and WI gets rebound to pull ahead. Score after 17: WI 100 NY 90 KY 130 Q18: NY gets a long answer and now they're up. This is super close. Q19: WI jumps but doesn't say anything, he just sits. KY gets the tossup. NY is up by 20. Q20: WI jumps and gets it to send us to a tiebreaker! Tiebreaker: Knapp takes a time out to tell us that tiebreakers must end with a correct answer, because we all like quizzes to end on a positive note. Miss for WI and NY gets the tossup to win and give WI their first loss. Final Score: WI 100 NY 130KY 150 Jesse
