Quiz 28 of the day. Number who knows with Knapp Pennslyvania vs New York vs Kentucky Only two more quizzes including this one for the day, says Dr. Knapp. If New York loses this quiz, and Florida loses the other one, then we may go into Thursday with 5 teams still in contention. Q1: Error for NY, error for KY, but KY challenges and it's overruled, and Knapp throws the whole question out. He then explains the rule, but I am positive that once and only once Knapp did not do this, but rather kept the first error and awarded the points the second and correct answer. But whatever, the rule has been clarified. No use crying over it. NY gets the redo, so they definitely benefitted from that situation. Q2: Error for KY, NY gets the tossup and is now up 40. Q3: PA gets their first question. Q4: Error on NY, their first, and PA gets the tossup to tie at 40 with NY. Q5: Error on PA this time and NY gets the tossup. KY has been shutout, but I know they had no points after 5 and they survived, so no worries yet. Score after 5: PA 40 NY 60 KY 0 Q6: Second error on NY and PA gets the tossup to again tie with NY. Q7: Timeout on Kentucky, and they come back with a foul and an error, though not at the same time. PA misses the tossup, but challenges. Now remember, if its accepted, both errors are thrown out. And indeed, Knapp accepts and the errors are discarded. BUT wait! NY has now challenged to I guess convince Knapp that he was, indeed, right the first time. It doesn't work because counterchallenges don't work. PA misses the redo and NY gets the tossup. Q8: PA nails a quote to jump to 80 and tie with NY. Q9: At question 9, KY finally gets their first question. Q10: 2nd error for KY, PA gets the rebound and the lead Score after 10: PA 100 NY 80 KY 20 Kentucky needs a kick in the pants here. Q11: NY scores to tie with PA. Q12: KY jumps but errors and PA gets the tossup. KY is having some real problems here because neither NY or PA are missing, they aren't in error trouble, and they aren't too concerned with beating each other that much, so they seem to be scoring often and in rhythm. It'd be one thing if KY was missing but also another team, but it's just not happening. Q13: 4th error for KY to knock them to 10, PA gets the rebound. Q14: PA misses their 3rd, and KY gets the immediate tossup, putting them within 70 on NY Q15: PA gets one more and chair 4 quizzes out. Score after 15 : PA 160, NY 100 KY 30 Q16: Killer error for KY, NY gets the tossup and KY is out in 5th place after dominating this tournament for years. They made a deep run but it wasn't enough. At this point, PA and NY are now playing for a bye until Thursday, which is motivation enough to play for. Q17: NY gets 20 to pull within 20 on PA. Q18: Error by NY, KY gets the rebound to play spoiler I guess. Q19: NY needs two of two to ensure a trip to the second day. Actually, they would play the second day regardless because they have yet to lose. NY misses though and KY gets the tossup. Q20: Another score for KY who goes out on their own terms Final Score PA 160 NY 120 KY 80 Dr. Knapp acknowledges Kentucky's 3-year domination of this tournament with no losses or middles, which is a shocking feat and worth repeated recognization.
