CO-NY-WI
NY starts off with an incorrect answer on question 1, and WI gets the toss-up and is ruled correct. Allison (NY) makes a challenge that WI’s answer was not specific enough, but is denied. Question 2 is a 3-verse quote, and Samuel (WI) gets it right! Sam stands up on 3 (a full reference question), but doesn’t get a clue word and is incorrect. Mercy (NY) accidentally jumps for the toss-up; she tries, but is also ruled incorrect. CO does not get the free correct, and we’re now on 3 repeated. CO tries on the initial, but runs out of time, so NY scoops up the toss-up. CO comes back with a correct on 5, which gives them a tied score with WI.

NY tries for the initial on 6, but is incorrect, and CO gets the toss-up. They stand again on 7 (a finish this verse question), but are incorrect. Hannah (WI) correctly finishes it to tie WI back up with CO. Ben (CO) stands on 8, but he runs out of time; NY gets the toss-up. Mercy gets 9 correct also, which gives a 3-way tie going into 10. Mercy gets 10 correct and pulls her team one question ahead.

Mercy gets 11 and 12 right; WI tries on 13, but is incorrect, so Mercy picks up the toss-up. Samuel (WI) makes an appeal, but is denied, so Mercy keeps her points and quizzes out. Way to go! Ben (CO) gets 14 correct; he jumps way too early on 15, and he knows it, but, before he can answer, the quizmaster throws the question out. Whew! Ben stands up at the right time on 15 again, and gets it right.

Ben tries again on 16, but is incorrect, and WI picks up the toss-up. WI stands again on 17; it a 50-50, and they picked the wrong one, so NY gets the toss-up by guessing the other one. WI stands on 18, but is incorrect, and no one answers the toss-up, so we go to 18 repeated and Ben (CO) gets it right and calls a timeout because they are now safe. WI jumps on 19 and is correct; even though they can’t win, they finish the quiz strong with another correct on 20. However, this is WI first low, so they still are alive and can keep going!
