“Then should they be made more conformable to religion, or the company of saints would be to hot for them.”

First, he brought me here; it is by his will I am in this strait place: in this fact I will rest.
Next, he will keep me here in his love, and give me grace to behave as his child.
Then, he will make the trial a blessing, teaching me the lessons he intends me to learn, and working in me the grace he means to bestow.
Last, in his good time he can bring me out again – how and when he knows.

 Let me say I am here;
  (1) By God's Appointment,
  (2) In his keeping,
  (3) Under his training,
  (4) For his time.

So…was this three quotes, or was it just the first one in italics?  Either way, good quote(s) and good point(s).

I think that I have seen those first two quotes before…  If I am not mistaken the first one is from the Pilgrim's Progess; but I will to search a little to find the 2nd one.

Here are two:

“Learn to say “no”; it will be of more use to you than than to be able to read Latin.”

“Sometimes the tasks or people we judge to be the most tiresome or tedious actually contain precious gems of great value; if only we would take the time to look for them.”

Have a good night.

Here's my fav:

The Will of God will never lead from the Way of God. The Way of God will always promote the Work of God. The Work of God will ever be fueled by the Worship of God. The Worship of God will always be in the Will of God.

Cannot remember where I heard it, but have always liked it. Cool

Here are some of my favorites:

If Christ is not your Lord, he is not your Savior.

The will of God will never take me where the grace of God will not protect me.

I like this one:

“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.”

This is one of my favorite quotes:

I am only one, but still I am one.                                                                                     I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.

And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can.

                                                              -Edward Everret Hale

Here is one that I believe to be one of the most difficult ideas to accomplish:

“The light that shines the farthest must shine the brightest at home!”

Try it and see!

Awesome Cassy!! I really like E.E. Hale.

And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. - Abraham Lincoln

To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else. - Emily Dickinson

The person who tries to live alone will not succeed as a human being. His heart withers if it does not answer another heart. His mind shrinks away if he hears only the echoes of his own thoughts and finds no other inspiration. - Pearl S. Buck

“The light that shines the farthest must shine the brightest at home!”

That's a good one, David. It's fairly easy to control youself in public…not so much at home. I read a book and the way the guy put it was we are sprinting with our friends, but running a marathon at home with our siblings and parents.

Sprints are quick and are done in a short time, while a marathon goes on and on…

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know,”Thus says the Lord!”

I have included these last as a bundle; and because of this, you might be tempted to gloss over them or to read them and forget, but if I have any right to claim a favor of you, then I would beg you not to do so.  Take the time to read, to study, to meditate upon these things, and always remember to search the scriptures whether these things are so.

“Hiding a crime does not lessen the severity of the offence; it only makes the judgment worse.”

- It is often easy to cover something up in the short-time, but usually we're are eventually caught and the consequences are much more severe than if we had simply owned up to begin with.  And if it is not revealed here on earth, what about on the day of judgment?

“Unless your foundation is sure, you will fall in the first storm.”

- Upon what foundation are you building your life, my friend?  Is it around your family, your friends?  Can that foundation survive hardship; such as death, war, and turmoil?  If you build upon any other foundation than the rock of Jesus Christ you have simply wasted your life.

“You are responsible for the person or the example you choose to follow”

-It is true that there are good role models we can follow in life, when they be from the past or present, there are good, solid men and women of God.  However that may be, ultimately it is still our choice, our soul that we must answer for.

“You will never know how much you can take until you decide to stand”

- How often do we give up on tasks, or people, simply because we believe that we're are inadequate for the job?  Does not the scripture say “With God, all things are possible”?  Why then do we balk at the things we think are to hard for us?  Have we truly tried?  Have we truly resisted unto death, striving against sin?”

“The most effective way to witness is to live it out”

- Unless you live out the words that you speak, they will actually cause the opposite affect that you intended.  This world has many salespeople today, many religions that clash for people's attention; why do we expect people to believe us any more than the other 2-dozen that came to them over the past week?  It is with our lives that we truly witness to the world around us; yes, oftentimes words are necessary as well, but unless they can the truth actually lived out, they will have no inclination to follow Christ over the pleasures of sin in this world.

“Strive to live your life in such a way, that, if you were called away today, you could go without regrets”

- How often do we go to bed wishing that we hadn't yelled at our sibling that morning?  Or that we had remembered to just simply tell those close to us that we lose them?  Do they cease to be people with needs, just because they're near us?  I ask you, when was the last time you told one of your brothers or sisters you loved them?  If you or they were to die tonight, would you regret that the last word you spoke to them was in anger?

“Prayer is a powerful weapon that is too often left in its sheath.”

-  Many people read their Bibles, few understand it; even fewer people are willing to take just a few moments in prayer with God; and even a smaller number of those actually get anything out of it…  Why is that?  Has it become just another routine?  Is it just another motion that “good Christians” go through?  What is the point of spending an hour, or even half-an-hour on our knees talking to the air?  Do we consider what we're doing?  That the Creator of the universe is taking the time to come down and listen to our pleas?  That he is actually listening, and that he will always answer those prayers? Even if we do not always see his answer, remember that “whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.”  Consider though, when you pray, that he is God…

Good bye and farewell,

David J. Thomas.
