What happned to NY at Scqanit? We quizzed them the round before they were eliminated and they did quite well. Going into that quiz, I figured them to be our biggest threat. They ended up not even being a factor. I'll give them this: they sure turned it around the next day. Must have done somthing different.

Great question. Maybe one of the HM quizzers can enlighten us!? I tried to come up with a good reason for it in preparation for my articles…unforunately, I have no idea. They may not have an idea either!

They took a loss in their first round… maybe that threw them off for the rest of the day. I know how that goes.

It's a math problem. For the past four years take PVKY's place and multiply it by two to get NY place. 2006: 1×2=2, 2007:1×2=2, 2008:1×2=2, 2009:6×2=12. These are the stupid things you learn at secular universities. Lol.

One of the reasons we did so poorly at SCQANIT is the new toss-up question, in my opinion. I know in the past we have worked okay with it but it really burned us this year. I don't know how many errors we got on toss-ups.. …but it was WAY too many. At Nationals we thrived on toss-ups, rarely erroring on them. I know what you mean. It seemed to me there was a lot of errors on the tossup in general. I don't know which format I like better. I used to like the same question, but fouls are extremely frusterating at times. Some quizmasters seem to give in after 5 or 6 fouls, even though the timing is the same as the other jumps. And that kills if you wasted 2-3 fouls and the other team gets it doing exactly what you did! Fortunatly that doesn't happen too often. That was just a weird quiz all day. Nationals seemed to run alot smoother, so maybe the same is best.
