and by Tuesday 3PM ET we are down to 4 teams:
- Colorado (No Lows)
- Wisconsin (No Lows)
- Oregon (1 Low)
- Texas (1 Low)
Reminder – 2 Lows will eliminate your team, so Oregon and Texas are just 1 Low away from being eliminated….
Oregon is unique – this is the first time a team from Oregon has competed in the AACS National Bible Quiz Tournament, and Westgate Christian School may potentially make the finals!
One of the changes in recent years has been to offer more rounds for more teams, with the single elimination consolation bracket. From the AACS Handbook:
A typical quiz lasts about 20 minutes. Know when your team is scheduled to quiz and do not leave the quizzing area unless you have been told by the Quizmaster that you will not be quizzing soon.
Preliminary Rounds: As much as is possible, during preliminary rounds, each team will quiz against 6 different opponents.
Double Elimination Rounds: Each team that finishes the preliminary rounds with fewer than 2 losses will qualify for double elimination rounds to determine the championship. Double elimination rounds will continue until a champion is determined. Final rounds will be held on Thursday.
Consolation Rounds, Single Elimination: All teams that did not qualify for the double elimination rounds will continue to quiz in a single-elimination bracket. Consolation rounds will be completed on Tuesday.
Once quizzing concludes Tuesday afternoon, there will be a pause until Thursday at 2:00 PM ET (allowing quizzers to compete in the other events at the 2026 National Fine Arts Competition.
Tuesday 4 PM ET Update:
Tuesday’s rounds are over. The final three advancing to Thursday: CO (Woodside), TX (Temple, Flower Mound), WI (Mukwonago). TX has one loss while neither CO nor WI have any. There will be a minimum of three, maximum of four quizzes on Thursday.
